We are looking for a motivated Data Scientist with expertise in socio-economic models and experience in EU projects to join our EU-funded BENEFITS team. Working alongside economists and policy experts, you will model, analyse, and visualise data on the social and economic impact of social services, generating evidence-based insights that shape public policies and scale up impactful initiatives, both for Headway and on behalf of our clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and apply socio-economic, statistical, and machine learning and econometric models to support both research and consulting projects
- Clean and analyse complex datasets; produce high-quality visualisations, dashboards, and decision-support tools
- Design evaluation metrics and frameworks to measure social, economic, and environmental outcomes
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports, policy briefs, and client deliverables that communicate evidence in clear and actionable ways
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and transparent documentation across all projects
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of researchers, consultants, and external stakeholders
- Keep abreast of methodological advances and emerging tools in data science, ensuring their practical integration into Headway’s offerings
KEY REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline
- Advanced knowledge of causal inference methods
- At least 1 year of professional experience in data analysis, ideally linked to socio-economic research, consulting, or public policy
- Very strong skills in statistical analysis tools (R, Python, STATA, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in data cleaning, analysis, and visualisation; knowledge of machine learning techniques is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Greek or other EU languages is an asset
- Ability to translate technical findings into insights for non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving orientation, with attention to accuracy and detail
